Jamalpur Free Day was observed in the district amid much enthusiasm today.
On the day in 1971, freedom fighters with the help of allied force over powered Pakistani occupation and liberated Jamalpur.
Bangladesh Muktijodha Sangsad, Jamalpur unit command took out a colourful rally from Bakultola area in the town marking the day.
The rally led by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Md Rasel Sabrin after parading the main roads ended on primary teachers’ institute premises.
The rally was followed by a discussion held at Jamalpur Muktijodha Sangsad auditorium with Haidar Ali, Commander of Bangladesh Muktijodha Sangsad, Jamalpur Sadar unit command in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Md Rasel Sabrin, Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Dr Md Mofizur Rahman, freedom fighters- Harun-Or-Rashid, Nazrul Islam, Mokhlesur Rahman Hiru and Abdul Matin spoke, among others, at the meeting.
