Defending champion Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club maintained the solo lead in the league table, despite played out a 3-3 draw against Dhaka Abahani Ltd in the nine round match of the JB Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football at Sylhet District Stadium on Thursday.
With day’s result, Sk Jamal collected 19 points from nine matches with five wins and four draws to maintain the top slot, followed by Abahani securing 17 from the same number of encounters with four wins and five draws.
In the day’s match, Haitian forward Wedson Anselme put Sk Jamal ahead in the 43rd minute of the match by a left footed volley from the top of the six yard box, 1-0.
Abahani Midfielder Atiqur Rahman Fahad leveled the margin in the 45th minute by a right footer from goal mouth melee, 1-1.
English forward Lee Andrew Tuck doubled the lead for Abahani in the stopgap time of the first half, 2-1.
Abahani were reduced to ten-men as their midfielder Atiqur Rahman Fahad got marching order in the 46th minute following the double yellow cards.
Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba extended the margin for Abahani in the 50th minute, 3-1.
Gambian midfielder Darbo Landing reduced the margin for Sk Jamal in the 55th minute flicking the ball to deceive goalie by a right footed attempt from top of the six yard box, 3-2.
Wedson Anselme restored the parity scoring his 2nd goal in the 77th minute by a left footed shot from the top-edge corner of the six yard box, dodging Abahani captain Mamun Miah and goalie Sultan Ahmed Sakil, after carrying the ball from left flank, 3-3.
