Staff Reporter : Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced that it would stage countrywide demonstration on Thursday protesting the ‘killing, abduction, arrest and harassment’ of the leaders and workers of the party and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir. Jamaat Acting Secretary General Dr Shafiqur Rahman announced the programme in a press release on Tuesday. He urged the leaders and workers of his party to make the demonstration a success.Dr Shafique alleged that the government is killing the top leaders of the Jamaat-e-Islami in the name of trial and at the same time, it is continuing mass-arrest of Jamaat-Shibirmen across the country unjustly. Meanwhile, Islami Chhatra Shibir brought out processions in the city and several other parts of the country protesting killing of its two leaders in Jessore on Monday. The organisation demanded arrest and trial of Chhatra League men for the killings. The Shibir men brought out processions at Badda, Khilgoan and Mirpur in the city. However, the processions were sudden and for the short-time. The Shibir men also brought out processions in Sylhet, Chittagong, Barisal, Gazipur, Mymensingh, Comilla and Rajshahi.
