Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will stage countrywide demonstration today (Monday) demanding the release of its detained top leaders, including the party secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid before Ramzan.
Jamaat acting secretary general Dr Shafiqur Rahman announced the programme in a statement on Saturday. He urged the leaders and workers of party on Sunday to make the programme a success.
This will be the first-ever protest programme called by Jamaat-e-Islami since the end of BNP-led 20-party alliance’s three-month long countrywide blockade programme.
Dr Shafiqur Rahman said that Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid and
other party leaders are in the jail for long unfairly. The government planned to kill some other leaders in the name of justice.
