Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami may call a two countrywide hartal from tomorrow (Wednesday) if the verdict goes against the party Ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami. No announcement of hartal has come till filling this report at about 9:30 pm on Monday.International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 fixed today (Tuesday) for pronouncing verdict in war crimes case against Nizami. Sources said that the Jamaat central has already sent message to the leaders and the workers of the party and its student wing- Islami Chhatra Shibir to be ready to enforce hartal from Wednesday if the verdict goes against the party chief.Earlier, Jamaat had called hartal on the day of delivering verdict against other leaders of the party, including Ghulam Azam, Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayedee and Abdul Quader Mollah. The sources also said hartal may be called for tomorrow, which would be increased for a day. The policy makers, however, are also thinking to announce countrywide doa mahfil on Friday. Nizami, 71, is facing 16 charges for his alleged involvement in genocide, mass killings and crimes against humanity committed during the Liberation War in 1971.
