The Jhenaidah police at a press conference on Friday at about 10.30 AM claimed to have arrested District Nayeb-e-Ameer of the Jamaat-e-Islami Nur Mohammad, 62.
The police said, they picked up Nur Mohammad from near the Dishary School at Hamdah, Jhenaidah town on the night of Thursday. Nur Mohammad is also the ex-chairman of Jhenaidah
Sadar Upazila Parishad. The police disclosed it after 16 days of the Jamaat leader’s arrest by the plain clothe police on March 2.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Rashedul Islam said, the police after arresting Nur Mohammad came to know about the storing of huge arms and explosives by Nur Mohammad and his workers.
As per the statement, the police on the night of Thursday seized 46 kilograms bomb-making materials, 15 hand bombs and huge militant books from his possession at Hatkhola.
Muzahidul Islam, a son of Nur Mohammad on March 3 informed the media that some plain clothe police picked up his father Nur Mohammad from the Hatkhola area of the town in the afternoon of March 2. He was working at a motor garage there. Since then he was missing.
