Jamaat leader Dr. Shafiqul on 14-day remand

A Dhaka court yesterday placed Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud, central executive member of Jamaat-e-Islami on 14 days fresh remand to interrogate him in six cases.
Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrates Shahriar Mahmud Adnan and Rezaul Karim passed the orders after the hearing in the cases.
Magistrate Rezaul Karim placed Masud on nine days remand in four cases filed with Motijheel Police Station, while Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan put him on five days’ remand in two cases filed with Ramna Police Station.
Detective Branch (DB) police produced him before the court with 54 days’ remand pleas after completion of a five-day remand, granted afresh.
Masud, who was also a president of Chhatra Shibir was placed on a four-day remand on August 20 and that was his third remand.
On August 9, the Jamaat leader was arrested with 19 leaders and activists from a house in Zakir Hossain Road in Mohammadpur area of the city.
