District Police arrested Union Parishad chairman of Charati Union of Satkania upazila of Chittagong district on Saturday.
The arrestee, Rezaul Karim (56), is also a union-unit Jamaat-e-Islami amir.Satkania Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Farid Ahmed told that the arrestee is accused in seven violence cases.
‘Rezaul was fugitive for many days. Police, on information, conducted a drive and detained him from his house in Pashchim Durduri area of Charati union,’ the OC added.
Moreover, police arrested an Islami Chhatra Shibir activist Sajjad Hossain (23) with a locally-made light-gun and two rounds of cartridge from Alinagar area of the upazila , district police release said.
