Chandpur Dist Jamaat Amir Principal Maulan Abdur Rahim ,55, was arrested in the afternoon on Wednesday from Ghastola area-an outskirt of the district town, under Chandpur Sadar. Chandpur Model Thana Sub Inspector Onup Chakrovorty arrested him as he is connected with a violence case. Contacted, OC Ibrahim Khalil said, A Rahim has been arrested in connection with violence case. He suffered imprisonment for many days as an accused in hartal, blockade and violences during the anti- Government programmes in 2014. He is wanted in connection with more than one case filed against him with this Thana. A Rahim is working as Principal of Ghasstola Alim Madrasa.
Meanwhile, the 20- party alliance sources said, there is no warrant of arrest against A Rahim. Chandpur Town Unit of Jamaat leaders Shah Alam and Secretary Md Saiful Islam and also BNP District Senior Joint Convener Advocate Salimullah Selim have condemned this arrest and demanded of the authorities to release A Rahim as early as possible as he is very sick.
