Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokan said the city dwellers will get traffic jam-free and safe roads within the next two years.
He said this on Thursday while presiding over the first meeting of a committee formed to bring discipline in public transport sector at the seminar room of Nagar Bhaban.
Sayeed said the committee will begin its activities as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after her return from abroad.
He said, “The main works of the committee will be to ensure the safety of the common people by bringing discipline on the roads.”
In this regard, they will work for bringing the buses under some companies by rationalizing the city routes, Sayeed said, adding, “The committee will also work for plying environment-friendly busses to reduce air pollution in the city.”
He urged the city dwellers to keep faith in them.
Seeking advice of all, the DSCC mayor said, “If anyone including experts, civil society members and students, provide us their advices, we will implement those after detailed discussions.”
