Jalaler Golpo to compete in Kerala Film Festival

Promising director Abu Shahed Emon’s film Jalaler Golpo entered into the Kerala International Film Festival. The festival in its 20th edition was began from December 4 and will be continued to December 11 at Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram.
Emon’s movie to contest with 13 other films in the International Competition Films segment for a prize worth $30,000. The award is named the Golden Crow Pheasant Award. Most of these films deliver anti-war messages or depict sufferings and agony of the characters as the victims of faulty social structure. Some of these films also bagged awards participating in the world famous film festivals such as Rotterdam International Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival held in this year.
Jalaler Golpo which has been selected for the Foreign Movies Category of the 88th Academy Awards due to be held next year as one of it first hauls won the funding award while competing against staunch rivals from China, South Korea, Japan, Iran and India. Five more countries took part in the final selection round to win the award intended for first time directors.
Afterwards Jalaler Golpo took part in a series of international film festivals before premiering at its home. In Jaipur Film Festival Jalaler Golpo won the best debut director’s award. In Avanca Film Festival the movie received the best film award. The movie’s negative cast member Mosharrof Karim won the best actor award in this festival. The film also stars Moushumi Hamid, Touqir Ahmed and Shormi Mala in leading roles.
