A discussed UP chairman named Manfar Ali arrested with weapons in Sylhet. He was arrested from Islamganj Bazar in Jalalabad Union under Sylhet district recently.
Manfar Ali identified as son of Haji Mantaj Ali of the old Kalaruka village of Sadar upazila and the current chairman of Jalalabad UP. There have been several cases against him on various charges including weapons, extortion, torture of women and firing on the police multiple times.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police’s ADC Jeddan Al Musa said the Jalalabad police station on Friday evening arrested him from Islamganj Bazar. There are several cases against him, including extortion. A pistol, 3 rounds of ammunition and a knife were recovered from him.
