BSS, Dhaka :
An epic resistance from Jaker Ali and Taibur Rahman helped Walton Central Zone keep their second-round game of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) in the balance against Islami Bank East Zone at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.
At stumps on day two, Central Zone reached 223-9 in reply to East Zone’s 245. They are still trailing by 22 runs with one wicket at hand.
But East Zone sensed a big lead when they reduced Central Zone to 32-5 after their bowlers came up with fire with Asaduzzman Payel leading the way. Jaker and Taibur combined for a 152-run for the sixth wicket stand to dash their hope of hurling the baton in the match.
The partnership was broken after Taibur was dismissed for 76. Jaker looked in firm control to hit his second consecutive ton in the league. However, that was not to be as Tanvir Islam got rid of him when he was 92.
Payel claimed 3-48 to be the wrecker-in-chief while Enamul Haque, Tanvir Islam and Nayeem Hasan picked up two wickets apiece.
