Jail Killing Day was observed through various programmes in Chapainawabganj on Friday.
Chapainawabganj district unit of Bangladesh Tanti League arranged mourning procession, discussion meeting, Quran Khwani and doa mahfil on the occasion.
The procession was taken out from the district office of AL at Shahid Monimul Hoque road in the town. After parading the main roads of the town the procession ended at the same venue.
A discussion meeting was held there with the convener of the Chapainawabganj district unit of Tanti League Niksan Rahat Raju in the chair and was addressed by the general secretary of the Chapainawabganj district unit of Awami League and law maker of
Chapainawabganj sadar constituency Md. Abdul Wadud, the general secretary of the Chapainawabganj district Shechcha Shebok League Principal Atiqul Islam, former president of the Chapainawabganj district unit of Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL) Golam Shahnewaj Apu, organizing secretary the district BCL Maruf Ahmed Shaon and others.
The speakers termed the killing of the four national leaders in the jail one of the most heinous events in the history.
BSS from Bogra adds: The Jail Killing Day was observed by the district unit Awami League in the town yestrday.
To mark the day, district AL organized a procession in the town. A discussion meeting was also held in front of Awami League party office.
Alhaj Momtaj Uddin presided over the meeting while Abdul Mannan Mp addressed as the chief guest. Awami League leaders Mujibur Rahman Mojnu, Dr Mokbul Hossain, Tofazzal Hossain Dulu, advocate Mokbul Hossain, TM Zaman Nikita and Khadiza Khatun among others spoke.
Earlier district Awami League hoisted national flag half-mast and party flags and placed wreaths at the portraits of four national leaders at its office.
