District unit of Bangladesh Awami League observed the Jail Killing Day, the dark chapter of our political history, in the town today placing wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu and the four national leaders, killed in Dhaka Central Jail on November 3, 1975.
Making the occasion, a discussion meeting was also held at the party office with district Awami League President Md Abdul Malek, MP, in the chair.
Naogaon district Awami League General Secretary Sadhan Chandra Mujumder, MP, president of Naogaon Sadar Upazila Awami League Mahbubul Haque Komol, Awami League leaders Dewan Sekar Ahmed Shisan, Nirmal Krishna Saha and Chhatra League leader Rahmania Rijbi spoke, among others.
BSS from Faridpur reports: Local Awami League leaders paid rich tributes to the four national leaders who were brutally killed inside the Dhaka central jail on Nov. 3 in 1975.
Local Awami League leaders hoisted the National flag at the half mast and also the party flag at the Awami League office premises at Thana road of the town this morning.
The leaders also observed one minute silence in memory of four national leaders – Tajuddin Ahmed, Syed Nazrul Islam, Captain Mansur Ali and A.H. M. Quamruzzaman who were taken to Dhaka central jail after the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members.
Local Awami League leader Advocate Subal Saha, Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor, Lokman Hossain Mridha, Nazmul Hassan Levi, Abdur Razzak Molla, Shamsul Alom Chowdhury and Nurul Islam Nuru were present in the function.
After hoisting the flags AL activists and leaders offered special prayer for the salvation of the departed souls of the four national leaders.

City unit of Bangladesh Awami League and its front-organizations observed the day through various programmes paying due homage to the martyred.
Marking the day, scores of wreaths were placed on the grave of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman, one of the four national leaders, in city’s Kadirgonj family graveyard besides mourning rallies and garlanding of portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders at Awami League party office.
District and city units of Awami League and its front organizations brought out a mournful rally from in front of the party office and placed wreaths on the mazar. Apart from this, various other government, semi-government and autonomous organizations also placed wreaths since early morning.
City unit Awami League president and former mayor of Rajshahi AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, State Minister for foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, Omor Faruqe Chowdhury, MP, Ayen Uddin, MP, Akhtar Jahan, MP, Mayor-in-Charge of Rajshahi City Corporation Nizam-Ul Azim and other front-ranking AL leaders joined the rally, among others.

In observance of the day, Awami League arranged Quran Khwani, Doa Mahfil and feeding of destitute in all 30 wards of the city. Rajshahi City Corporation, Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology and various other educational and financial institutions also observed the day through separate programmes.
