Sylhet Correspondent :Sylhet District and City unit of Bangladesh Awami League and its front-organizations observed the Jail Killing Day in the city on Tuesday.District and city units of Awami League and its front organizations brought out a mourning rally from in front of the party office. Apart from this, various other government, semi-government and autonomous organizations also placed wreaths since early morning.Former mayor of SCC Badar uddin ahmed kamran, former mp Shofikur rahman Chawdhury and other front-ranking AL leaders were present on the occasion, among others.Marking the day, AL Sylhet district and city unit organized a discussion meeting at the party office in the afternoon.BSS from Rajshahi reports: The mournful Jail Killing Day is being observed in the city on Tuesday paying due homage to the four national leaders assassinated inside the Dhaka Central Jail on this day in 1975.City unit of Bangladesh Awami League and its front-organizations observed the day through various programmes paying reach tribute to the martyred.Marking the day, scores of wreaths were placed on the grave of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman, one of the four national leaders, in city’s Kadirgonj family graveyard besides mourning rallies and garlanding of portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders at Awami League party office.District and city units of Awami League and its front organizations brought out a mourning rally from in front of the party office and placed wreaths on the mazar. The procession began from the Krishnochora Chatter near Mymensingh railway station.Religious Affairs Minister Mohammad Motiur Rahman led the procession which paraded station road, Ganginarpar, Notan Bazar and town hall area and ended at the residence of Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam, one of the victims of jail killing incident.Leaders and workers of the district Awami league and its front organisations took part in the procession with wearing back badges.After the procession, Motiur Rahman placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam at his college road residence and offered Fateha there.Earlier, he hoisted black flag at party office half-mast at Shib Bari road this morning.After placing the floral wreath at the portrait of Syed Nazrul Islam, the minister said anti-liberation forces are hatching conspiracies against the independence of the country and also trying to save the killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and four National leaders those who are now absconding in abroad.The present government, he said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will bring back the killers from abroad and implement the court verdict.He called upon the party leaders and workers to remain vigil against the conspirators.Vice-president of the district AL Mujibur Rahman Milky, AL leader Nazimuddin Ahamed, president of city AL Aminul Islam Tara and leaders of different front organisations were present.
