City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin said development partners of Japan (JAICA) will implement development works in the port city for Tk.432 cr during the fiscal 2016-17 . He disclosed it while addressing the workshop for ward councilors at CCC auditorium on Thursday as chief guest.
Local Govt Engineering Department arranged the workshop over the concept of Standing committee, laws and its effectiveness under City Governance Project(CGP).
City Mayor also said in current fiscal, JAICA funded Tk.187.71 and expected to invest in this project during 2016-17, 2017-18 fiscal with Tk.432 cr and Tk.1000 cr respectively.
City Mayor apprised the ward councilors about the aims and objectives of standing committees, work limitations and formation of 15-members Ward committee to coordinate the JAICA activities.
He also asked the councilors to play vital role to ensure the development works with the concept of Governance Improvement & Capacity Development for the better interest of the 60 lakh city dwellers.
He further disclosed that arrear bills of the contractors have been paid including outstanding PDB bills and tenders for road development works also invited in the meantime.
Among others chief executive officer Kazi Md. Shafiul Alam, 28 councilors and representatives of JAICA were present in the inaugural session of the workshop.
