Riding on a Sharmin Akhter century, Jahurul Islam City Cricket Club (JICCC) notched a huge 141 run victory over Urban Sports and Cultural Development (USCD) in the Women’s Cricket League at BKSP ground-4 in Savar on Monday.
Batting first after winning the toss in a rain-curtailed 21 over-a-side match, JICCC scored massive 189 for no loss.
Opener Sharmin Akhter hammered unbeaten 105 runs off 67 balls with 17 fours and was later adjudged the player of the match. Another opener, Ruby Haider scored not out 66 runs off 61 balls with six fours.
Chasing 190 runs for win, Urban Sports and Cultural Development were restricted to 48 for 8 in 21 overs with Lucky Akhter scoring 13 runs.
Jhumur grabbed four wickets for seven runs in her four over spell.
In the day’s other match, Gulshan Youth Club defeated BKSP by six wickets at BKSP ground-3 in Savar.
Favoured by coin, BKSP opened the innings first and scored 66 for 6 in a rain reduced 17-over-a-side match with Murshida Khatun Happy scoring 25 and Eka Mallick 14 runs.
Farzana Haque and Rima Akhter took one wicket each for 2 and 20 runs respectively.
In reply, Gulshan Youth Club easily reached their target scoring match-winning 67 runs for four wickets in 11.3 overs. Farzana Haque, who earlier grabbed one wicket, scored match highest 30 runs off 31 balls with five fours and was adjudged player of the match. Ferdousi made 13 runs off 25 balls with three fours.
Jannatul Ferdous, Suriya Azmim, Dolly Rani and Sanjida Akhter took one wicket each.
The day’s other match between Ansar & VDP and Rayer Bazar AC was abandoned due to rain at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.
