Jahanara Alam and Salma Khatun will leave the city for UAE on October 21 to take part in the Indian Women’s T20 Challenge.
Jahanara Alam will play for Velocity, while Salma Khatun will play for Trailblazers. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants to establish this tournament as an Indian Premier League (IPL) for women. This is the third edition of the tournament. The Indian Women’s T20 Challenge will be held in UAE from November 4 to November 9. In the final of the last edition, Jahanara Alam bagged two wickets at the cost of 21 runs in her four overs. But her team failed to win in the final match.
Smriti Mandhana will lead Trailblazers, while Mithali Raj will lead the Velocity.
A total of three teams will take part in the cricket tournament for women. The first phase will be held on round robin league basis. Top two teams will get the tickets of the final. Each team consists of 15 cricketers. Of them, four foreign players can perform for a team.
Cricketers from India, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Thailand will participate in the tournament.
