Chittagong Bureau :A 3-day Baishaki Mela began in the port city at Laldighi maidan yesterday on the occasion of century old traditional Abdul Jabbar Boli Khela(Wresting after the name of Abdul Jabbar) . The vendors from across the country turn over in the area and placed their traditional handicraft products around the areas of Anderkilla, Cinema palace, laldighi east and west aimed at selling to the visitors . Products of iron, steel, handmade knife, Da, boti etc, earthen wares and toys, cane & bamboo products , sweetmeat products of different varieties are being exbibited in the mela, a eye witnesses said. Meanwhile , the traditional Jabbarer Boli will be held at Muslim High school ground of Laldighi at 3 pm . The wrestlers across the country will participate in the wrestling competition. This century old Boli khela was first arranged in 1909 by Abdul Jabbar Sowdagar aimed at intensifying the anti-british movement by accumulating the people through wrestling competition. After the death of Abdul Jabbar , this wrestling is being continuing named as Abdul Jabbar Bolikhela. This is 106 th session of Boli khela, sources said.
