A round table discussion on infant and maternity healthcare in Bangladesh to raise awareness was held at a city hotel recently, organized by Infant and Young Child Nutrition Association of Bangladesh.
Prof M S Akbar, MP, Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society was present as chief guest while Prof Sirajul Islam, Director of Holy Family Red Crescent hospital Dhaka and Prof Khairul Amin, Vice President of Bangladesh Pediatric Association were present as discussant.
The focused topic of the round table was the scope of development in infant and maternity healthcare in Bangladesh. Related issues like importance of breast feeding and child food supplements also came up for discussion.
The speakers emphasized on the importance of mothers’ health and infants’ health along with breast feeding and child food. They also discussed about thenew law and draft rules on breast milk substitute. The speakers raised their concernregarding the aspects of draft rules which is under working progress.
