Ivy’s death anniv today

The 10th death anniversary of Ivy Rahman, the then women affairs secretary of Awami League, a victim of the August 21 grenade blasts, will be observed today (Sunday).
She was wife of late President and veteran Awami Leaguer Zillur Rahman.
A decade ago, on August 24 in 2004, Ivy Rahman, succumbed to her injuries as she received the horrific grenade attack on an anti-terrorism rally organised by Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.
Twenty three others lost their lives and countless party activists were left injured.
Awami League and its associate bodies have chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day. Awami League will place wreaths at her grave at Banani at 9 am. A milad mahfil followed special prayers will also be held.
Another milad and doa mahfil will also be held at ‘Ivy Concord Tower’ at Gulshan-2 after Asr prayers.
Her son MP Nazmul Hassan, Pabon also head of Bangladesh Cricket Board, has requested family members, friends and well wishers to be present at their residence.
