The 9th ICT Fest 2017 of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) was held on Friday at its campus of Board Bazar, Gazipur. IUT is a subsidiary organ of the 57-nation Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The festival was organized by the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department of the University.
Amid festivity and gaiety, the carnival was inaugurated by Md. Anwar Hossain, Secretary-in-Charge, Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh as chief guest while it was presided over by Prof Dr Munaz Ahmed Noor, Vice-Chancellor the University.
The event included programming contest, project showcasing, game development competition, app development competition, hackathon, ICT Olympiad, Math Olympiad, General Knowledge Competition, IT Business Idea Challenge Competition and Gaming Contest (FIFA & DOTA 2).
On this occasion, a magazine called ‘BEACON’ was published incorporating a collection of articles and opinion pieces from academicians, professionals and industry experts which was in the spirit of the general vision of ICT Fest i.e. to celebrate and help propel forward the emerging arena of ICT by quickening innovation and pushing the boundaries of imagination of its young participants.
The Chief Guest highly appreciated the role being played by the University in the development of human resources of the member states of the OIC in the spheres of science and technology. He particularly mentioned about the recent development activities that have been taken up by the present management of the University.
While thanking the chief guest, Professor Dr. Munaz Ahmed Noor expressed his deep gratitude for kindly attending the programme despite his hectic.
Professor Noor said that IUT is embarking on a massive programme of broadening, deepening and widening its activities. On completion of the projects, the University would emerge as a centre of excellence and a hub of smart education in the Islamic World within a few years.
The program was ended by giving prizes and certificates to the winners of various competitions.
