Vice-Chancellor of International University of Business Agriculture Technology (IUBAT) Professor M Alimullah Miyan on Thursday expressed his fear that the militants might attack the university any time to hamper the normal academic activities.
“A group of students along with some outsiders wearing Panjabi, Tupi (cap), Pagri and having beard attacked the university several times. They also filed cases in the court against the university. We assume that they might have the link with the militants. So, we fear further
attack,” Professor Alimullah Miyan said.
He said this at a press conference held on the IUBAT’s Uttara campus.
The VC claims that a number of people belonging to Tablig Jamaat have been requesting him to donate the university to the Tablig Jamaat. But he has always rejected their proposals.
“I told the men of Tablig Jamaat that we have been imparting education to the students. So, why shall I donate the university to the Tablig? But they continued their attempt. At the last, they took a plan to occupy the campus influencing the students,” said Professor Alimullah Miyan.
He said, the university has a dress code. No student can ignore the code. They promised before the admission that they would follow it. But some students are reluctant to follow it. They want to wear different Dress. We cannot allow it.
The dress code for male: the male students can wear trouser and fullhalf sleeve shirt with necktie, T-shirt with collargolf shirt, suit, blazer, sweater, jacket, muffler in winter (shawl not allowed), clean saved and decent hair cut (indecent not allowed).
The dress code for female: the female students can wear Salwar, kamiz and scarf, saree (professional attire), jeans, kurta, scarf, long skirt, top, scarf, sweater, jacket, muffler in winter (shawl not allowed), shoe or sandal shoe with belt and low heel (sandal not allowed), properly tied up heir and limited jewelry and make-up.
The VC said, some students are reluctant to follow it. But we will not change it.
Asking about the dress code he said, “We introduce it. If anyone chooses it, then he or she will be admitted here.”
It may be mentioned that the Education Ministry asked the both public and private universities not to insist the students to wear or ignore any dress.
The VC also said that the university authorities took the initiatives to set CCTV at all the important points of the university to check the militant attack.
