Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has participated in a Webinar titled, ‘Campus Stars’ organized by the country’s topmost English daily, the Daily Star.
The event took place on Monday evening while the objectives of the program has been to disseminate the messages about i) university’s methodology on quality higher education, ii) how the future leaders, quality human beings & global professionals for the changing world are being produced from the institution and iii) what contributions the successful alumni of the university are making to people’s lives and the society as a whole.
Dr. Zakir Hossain Raju. Professor & Head of the Department of Media & Communication, Lima Choudhury, Deputy Director, and Head, Admissions and Financial Aid Office, Fardeen Ameen, IUB alumnus and Product Marketing Lead, Grameenphone Ltd. and Nazia Nusrat, current BBA student participated. The session was moderated by Shuvashish Roy, Head of Business at the Daily Star.
Dr. Raju described the transformations of IUB and explained as to how it became a leading university in Bangladesh that has now been ranked first among all private universities in Bangladesh according to SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2021.
He elucidated the liberal-arts-module and the unique live-in-field education program of IUB’s teaching methodology that helps IUB graduates to be prepared for facing the constantly changing global challenges.
Dr. Raju also underscored on the fact as regards how the future leaders are being created at IUB who are being mentored by the world leaders like IUB Professor, Dr. Saleemul Huq who, as the only Bangladeshi scientist, secured 208th position in Reuters Hot List among 1000 of world’s most influential climate scientists.
Lima Choudhury talked about the selection process of IUB students. She stated that IUB has 42 Clubs through which students are getting opportunities to craft themselves and exploring different attributes to flourish and cope with the global community. She highlighted the facilities of female students, especially the financial aid and hostel facilities, financial assistance for all IUB’s students and also answered financial aid related queries asked by the interested students through Facebook comments.
Fardeen Ameen shared the reasons behind his life’s accomplishments. He mentioned the mentorship and the opportunities he received from IUB. Besides Academic knowledge, IUB always tries to improve student’s co-curricular and extracurricular talents, Fardeen added. He emphasized on the ecosystem of the University and showed his regards to his mentors at IUB.
IUB’s current campus star, Nazia Nusrat shared how IUB’s comprehensive education system is helping her to study beside her other chores. She also explained how IUB supports freshers to grow physically and mentally. As Nazia talked about IUB’s student-friendly environment that helps her to learn how to handle professional challenges, she also emphasized on university’s free psycho-social and mental health services which is playing a remarkable role during this ongoing pandemic calamity.
