IU observes Independence Day

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) celebrated the Independence and National Day-2019 in a befitting manner on the campus on Tuesday. Marking the day, IU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag and its Pro-VC Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the university flag in front of the university administrative building around 8am, while the provosts of the university hoisted the national flag in front of their residential halls.
Later, a colorful rally was brought out from the administrative building led by the VC of the university.
IU Pro-VC, Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha, Registrar in charge SM Abdul Latif, deans, provosts, chairmen, teachers-students of the 33 departments and activists of many political, voluntary social and cultural organizations of the university took part in the rally. The rally ended at the university’s central monument after parading main streets of the campus. The IU VC accompanied by Pro-VC, Treasurer and acting Registrar placed the floral wreath here on behalf of the university while different organizations including IU Teachers Association (IUTA), Bangabandhu Parishad, Shapla Forum, residential halls, departments, Journalists Association (IUJA) also placed floral wreaths.
A special prayer was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of the martyrs and valiant sons of the soil, who laid down their lives during the War of Liberation in 1971.
