The Islamic University (IU) Handball team became champions in the Inter-University Handball Competition-2019 held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday.
IU team won the title defeating National University of Bangladesh in the final match by 39-19 goals.
IU treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha, handed over the championship trophy to IU and runners up trophy to NU in a prize-giving ceremony as the chief guest conducted by Mabila Rahman, Assistant Director of the IU Physical Education Department.
Among others, Acting Proctor Dr Anisur Rahman, Assistant Proctor Shahed Ahmed, IU Physical Education Department Director Dr Mohammad Sohel, and its Deputy Director M Ashadur Rahamn took part in the prize-giving ceremony.
Meanwhile, Chittagong University got third place beating Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.
It may be mentioned that Inter-University Basketball Competition will be held on March 3 at the Gymnasium of the University. A total of 10 universities will take part in the competition.
