The basketball team of Islamic University (IU) became champion in the inter-university basketball tournament-2018 beating Jahangirnagar University (JU) by 87-69 points on Saturday.
The final match took place at the Gymnasium of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia through tight nervousness among the students of both teams.
IU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari handed over the champion’s trophy as the chief guest while Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Dr M Shaninoor Rahman addressed as special guests with IU’s Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha in the chair.
University Proctor Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, Students’ Advisor Professor Dr M Rezwanul Islam and Director of Physical Education department Mohammad Sohel were present on the prize giving ceremony.
However, Jessore Science & Technology University (JSTU) won the 3rd place of the tournament defeating Chittagong University (CU) on the day.
A total of eight public universities participated in the tournament started on April 4.
