Pahela Falgun-1423, the first day of spring season was celebrated at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Monday with the slogan of ‘flowers blossom or not, today is Basanto.’
Bangla Department of the university organized the programme included colorful procession, discussion and cultural function.
The programme began through a colorful procession at 11am. Teachers and students took part in the procession. It ended at the Bangla Monch near faculty building after parading the main roads of the campus.
Later, a discussion and a cultural function were held at Bangla Monch while IU VC Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed it as the chief guest.
Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha, Bangla department Professor Dr Abul Ahsan Chaudhury, Professor Dr M Sarwar Murshed spoke on the festival.
Associate Professor Dr M Baki Billah and Dr Tapan Kumar Roy conducted the discussion and cultural programme respectively while Prof Dr Goutam Kumar Das, chairman of Bangla Dept, was in the chair.
A cultural function including recitation, folk, music and dance was held by the participation of the teachers and students of the department.
