The 98th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day 2018 were celebrated at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia in a befitting manner on Saturday.
Marking the day, a joyous procession led by the university Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari was brought out in front of the administrative building around 10am. It ended at the stair of Bangabandhu portrait after parading the main roads of the campus.
IU Pro-VC Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha, Acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, ‘Shapla Forum’ President Professor Dr M Kamal Uddin, IUTA former President Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, former Secretary Professor Dr M Anowar Hossain, Proctor Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, Student Advisor Professor Dr M Rezuanul Islam joined the procession.
Thereafter, the VC accompanied by Pro-VC, Treasurer and acting registrar placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu on the campus.
IU progressive teachers’ organisation ‘Shapla Forum’, Jatir Pita Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall and IU unit Chhatra league also placed wreaths there.
Later, a cake was cut and prize giving ceremony was also held at Bir Shrestha Hamidur Rahman auditorium of the university while IU VC handed over the prizes to the winners who joined drawing and essay competitions.
Besides, IU unit Chhatra league and the authority of Jatir Pita Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall also cut a cake on the occasion.
