Comilla Victorians won the third Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title defeating Fortune Barishal on Friday. In this year’s BPL, the franchise did not take anyone from ‘Panchpandab’. The owner of the franchise, Nafisa Kamal was delighted to win the title without the Pandavas.
Imrul Kayes led Comilla beat Barishal by a single run in a thrilling final over contest at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
In response to a question from the media, Nafisa said, “I wanted to make a revolution this time. We wanted to build a young team. There were no Pandavas in our team. As a result, it is a great pleasure for us to become the champions without Pandavas,”
“What is Pandava? There are no Pandavas in our dictionary. Are you still talking about Pandavas? Even after today? We are like a family. Family comes first, superstar later. Superstars are a bonus for the team,”
Foreign cricketers like Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali and Sunil Narine have contributed a lot in winning the title for Comilla. Nafisa said overseas players increased the strength of the team.
“Our goal was to have foreigners with experience in franchise cricket. We get very little time in BPL. You have to make a family in a month,” she added.
