BNP Senior Joint Secretary Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said Juba League’s Dhaka South unit President Ismail Hossain Samrat had been arrested for diverting the people’s attention from the anti-state agreements signed in New Delhi on Saturday.
He came up with the comment while speaking at a press conference in the party’s central office in Nayapalton on Sunday.
The BNP leader said, “Samrat’s arrest is a drama to divert people’s attention in a different direction from the deals signed with India.”
He said, “The agreements allow India to use the seaport and Feni river water and gas, which are against our interests. The government did not discuss all these in the Parliament before hand. The government has sold the country’s interest to remain in power, even though Teesta problem remained as it was.”
He said, “The Prime Minister had violated her constitutional oath. In her visit to India, she did not protect Bangladesh’s interest in the agreement. The Memorandum of understanding unilaterally
has given India everything.” Rizvi said, “The government violated the constitution by signing ‘anti-state’ bilateral documents with India.
He demanded the Prime Minister’s resignation for breaching her constitutional oath by signing ‘unilateral’ documents with India.
“We strongly denounce and protest the anti-sate deals, including the withdrawal of water from the Feni River by India. We demand immediate cancellation of those documents,” he said.
The BNP leader further said, “Sheikh Hasina has lost all the constitutional rights to remain in the office of Prime Minister by signing the documents with India as she only protected the interests of the neighbouring country.”
BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Co-Organizing Secretary Abdus Salam Azad, Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain and among others present at the press conference.
