Business Report :The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) jointly inaugurated the IT training programme for schools’ teachers on Saturday at the newly established IT Lab of Dhaka Residential Model College with the presence of Ms. Kim Bok-Hee, Resident Representative of KOICA Bangladesh office, Professor Fahima Khatun, Director General of DSHE, Principals from selected schools, the Government of Bangladesh’s high officials and teachers.As a part of the project “Establishment of IT labs in secondary schools in Dhaka District” supported by the KOICA with a budget of $3.53 millions, a total number of two hundred teachers are going to participate in the two and half months training programme. The training aims to strengthen IT knowledge such as operating system, power point presentation, excel, word, and server maintenance that will help the teachers to provide the advanced IT knowledge to the students. By this project, KOICA supported the national initiative of the Government of Bangladesh to improve the educational system in Bangladesh by establishing the digital IT labs in 100 secondary schools in Dhaka district in order to provide the learning opportunity for basic computer literacy and ICT education to the secondary students. To establish the modern digital IT lab, KOICA provided high speedy multimedia computers, projectors and screen, digital camera, USB modem, furniture, and etc. In the first phase, KOICA remodeled and established digital IT Labs in 50 selected schools, and the remaining 50 IT labs’ remodeling and installation work is under process.
