The three-day BUP Model United Nations Conference ended on Tuesday after a full of intense debate on different international issues, which kept all the sessions lively and exciting.
This year with the help of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), agendas were set for the committee sessions to focus on the most pressing issues of the world.
The conference provided platform to practice the art of diplomacy and leadership.
Over 300 delegates from 50 institutions participated in the three-day conference, powered by Unilever and jointly supported by Dhaka Bank Ltd and Farmers Bank Ltd.
With the most skilled Executive Board Members in the dais, the committee sessions were spontaneous and full of participations from the delegates.
Heated discussions on Yemeni civil war, refugee crisis in Venezuela, implementation of Sustainable Development Goals and many more other issues.
The closing ceremony, held in the Mirpur Hall of Defense Services Command and Stuff College in Mirpur Cantonment, was attended by the higher officials of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), representatives from different universities, invited guests, teachers, officers and students.
Farooq Sobhan, former ambassador and President of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) attended the closing function as the chief guest while Major General Md. Emdad-Ul-Bari, Vice Chancellor of BUP was the special guest.
The prize giving ceremony was followed a cultural programme. Almost 50 prizes were handed over to inspire future diplomats and leaders attending the conference.
Farooq Sobhan, in his speech, expressed his enthusiasm for organizing such academic event. He opined that, “Ensuring world peace in a traditional way is a complex process that we are trying in a non-traditional way. The traditional view of national security is no longer applicable in late twentieth century.”
A grand Gala Dinner was also arranged on the occasion.
