The murder of dentist Bulbul Ahmed, 39, stabbing by three muggers in city’s Shewrapara on Sunday may not be a case of just ‘snatching’ incident; it could be a premeditated murder, claimed Family members and relatives.
Bulbul Ahmed used to work in dentistry as well as contracting. He also gave free treatment to the poor. He was popularly known to patients as the ‘doctor of the poor’.
Before the incident, family members have seen Bulbul in anxiety and restlessness for a few days. The matter has been demanded to be seriously investigated.The initial idea of the police is that it was a robbery. Police said they were reviewing the incident by collecting CCTV footage of the area. Three people committed the murder. The footage shows the two fleeing. A mobile phone belonging to the deceased Bulbul was lost. However, TK 12,000 was found in his pocket. Attempts are being made to identify them, police officials said.
It is learned that Dr. Bulbul Ahmed’s village home is in Rangpur district. He lived with his wife Shammi Ahmed and two children in the Anandabazar area of Mirpur West Shewrapara. His seven-year-old daughter Afnan Aon is a first grade student of Manipuri School.
Minor son Sami is 19 months old. He has a chamber called Rangpur Dental in Magbazar. In addition, he is a first class contractor. At present, a building of his contracting company is under construction in Noakhali.
Shammi Ahmed, wife of the deceased Bulbul Ahmed, told The New Nation that she cannot believe that it was just a ‘snatching’ incident; it could be a premeditated murder. On the day her husband left home at around 5.45 am to go to Noakhali. She got the news of killing of her husband around 9:00 in the morning. Shammi, a mother of two, broke down in tears as she spoke with the reporters. At that time her minor son Sami was in her lap. He hugged her and said in a tearful voice, “What crime have these little children committed to become orphans at this age? Father’s shadow moved away from them forever. Can you tell me how to live? I cannot take the breath.
It was very trifling injure in thigh, but how could he die, victim wife Shammi asked. Sohrab Hossain, a painter, was supposed to meet Bulbul at Mohakhali on the morning. Sohrab said on Saturday night Dr Bulbul told him over the phone that he had to go to Noakhali along with him to make understand the color work of a building. After reaching Bijay Sarani Sohrab again called Bulbul, the phone was not received. Afterward, a police man informed him that Bulbul was murdered. The body was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. Through him, the relatives got the news and rushed to the hospital.
Earlier, three people including a bus driver named Asif Hawlader, an eyewitness to the incident, rushed the victim to Al Helal Hospital at Mirpur-10.
It is alleged that the Al Helal Hospital didn’t admit Bulbul as it was a serious patient. At last victim was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him death.
Victim wife Shammi Ahmed filed a case with the Mirpur Model Police Station on Sunday afternoon against some unknown miscreants, a police official added.
