Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said information technology (IT) is essential to increase the quality of education and bring dynamism into it. “All teachers of the country should acquire computer knowledge to enhance their efficiency,” he said this on Saturday while speaking at the concluding ceremony of a training program for teachers on making digital contents here, an official release said. Principal Dhaka Teachers Training College (DTTC) Prof Dipak Kumar Nag presided over the function in the DTTC auditorium, also addressed, among others, by additional secretary Banmali Bhoumik. “We have made huge progress in expanding the IT in education sector. Nowadays, almost all the works, including filling forms, registration, publishing results, issuing orders, are being done online. We have set up multimedia classrooms in 23,300 schools in the country,” Nahid said.
The minister called upon the participants of the training programme to spread their knowledge among their colleagues in their own institutions.
Under the project, around six thousand teachers were given training from 14 government-run teachers training colleges till now. The government has a plan to train a total of sixty thousand teachers under this project.
