BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday asked the party leaders and activists to get ready for fight back against the government’s oppressive policy.
“We have lost everything. Our Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is in jail in a false case. We have nothing more to lose. So, it is time to fight back. Get ready to put up a strong resistance against the
government’s misdeeds and repressive activities’ as our backs are now pushed against the wall,” Mirza Fakhrul said it while inaugurating a CD of songs on jailed Khaleda Zia at Dhaka city BNP office at Nayapaltan.
BNP Meherpur District President Masud Arun wrote the songs for the CD titled ‘Ranodhoni’.
Mirza Fakhrul says that the highest court is prolonging the party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s stay in jail.
“We just wonder how will we have our confidence in some institutions now? The High Court granted her (Khaleda) bail, but the Appellate Division stayed it resorting to tricks and kept it hanging until the summer vacation,” he said.
The Secretary General said that he did not know whether it would be contempt of court “if he speaks the truth”.
He claimed the country’s current situation is worse than before.
“We never faced such a bad time. The present government has overtaken all the autocratic governments of the past. The government has snatched people’s voting rights as well as their civic rights,” he said.
The BNP leader said, “In these circumstances, every conscience citizen has the responsibility to stand against the government and save the nation.”
