IT introduced in judiciary for speedy service

Use of modern information technology has been introduced in country’s judiciary to manage the activities and cases of the Supreme Court and another 200 lower courts to provide speedy services to litigants, lawyers and concerned others.
Officials of the ministry of law said the government has taken the move to shirk the tangle of the pending cases as well as modernize the country’s judiciary.
To this end, a central server along with a website has been established in the Supreme Court.
Talking to BSS, Kazi Parvez Anwar, Computer System Analyst of the Supreme Court, said five digital displays have been installed in the apex court, which displays information of pending and under judgment cases along with days working minute.
The five digital displays are installed at office of the Chief Justice, Supreme Court Bar Building, Attorney General Office and Supreme Court Annex Building.
Besides, SMS service has also been introduced to provide latest information of the cases, he added.
Parvez Anwar informed day’s working list, basic information of cases, short summary of cases, orders and verdicts are uploaded on the website every day.
In addition, history of Supreme Court, Constitution, Rules, Court Calendar, Laws, Notice, Gazette, Recruitment and any kind of tender invitation are being provided on the website, he added.
Not only in the Apex Court, the similar modern systems has also been introduced in 200 lower courts across the country, which enabled the litigants and lawyers to know the latest status of the cases staying at home.
Advocate Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed Mehedi, former secretary of Supreme Court Bar, told BSS that now the lawyers and litigants are able to know that which case are being heard at which bench through the digital displays.
“Time consumption has been reduced due to the use of information technology as we could know the latest status of any case and position at working minute,” he added.
