Country’s export earning from Information Technology (IT) sector will exceed readymade garment (RMG) sector soon, said Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday.
The ICT Adviser said this while addressing the first ever Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Summit at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the city.
He declared that some 50,000 young people in the country would receive training on IT every year. In last year, country’s 30,000 youths received training on IT, he added.
The ICT Division and Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) jointly organized the two-day conference on December 9-10. The aim of the summit is to attract local and foreign investors in the BPO sector. Country’s young generation will also get information about the growing industry through the summit.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak presided over the summit.
