A Dhaka court on Wednesday again deferred the issue framing in a case filed against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman and 10 others for defaulting a loan payment of Sonali Bank Limited to May 15.
Following an application on behalf of the plaintiff, Sonali Bank Limited, Judge Mohammad Rabiuzzaman of Ortho Rin Adalat-1 (Money Loan Court-1) of Dhaka passed the order.
Earlier, May 7 was fixed for hearing on issue framing subject to the submission of
an order from the High Court. So far the date for hearing on issue framing was deferred for the fourth time.
The other defendants in the case are: Dandy Dying Limited, late Major Iskander’s son Shams Iskander, Safin Iskander, daughter Sumaiya Iskander, wife Nasrin Ahmad, Trique’s younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko, businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun, his wife Shahina Yasmin, Kazi Galib Ahmad, Shamsunnahar and her son Masud Hasan. Shamsunnahar and Masud were made defendants after the death of defendant Mozaffar Ahmad.
On October 2 last year, Sonali Bank filed the case against the defendants after their company failed to pay off the principal loan with interest, accumulated over 11 years to Tk 45.49 crore. The company had borrowed Tk 12.16 crore from the bank’s principal office in the capital on October 16, 2001.
