The 1st Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) International Archery Championship inaugurated on Friday at Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium with the participation of fourteen including hosts Bangladesh.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr. Biren Sikder formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) vice president Harun-Ur Rashid, Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation general director Khaled Bin Al Shayek and Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited chairperson Arast Khan were present as special guests.
Bangladesh Archery Federation president lieutenant general M Mainul Islam presided over the opening ceremony.
Bangladesh Archery Federation general secretary Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal and federation’s executive members were also present on the occasion.
Some hundred arches from 17 countries will fight for nine gold medals in the four-day meet, organised by ISSF.
