Ismat Ara’s death Week-long Madhu Fair differed

The scheduled opening session of weeklong fair, marking the 196th anniversary of birth of Michael Madhusudan Dutta, founder of blank verse in Bangla, will not be held today, January 22 due to the death of lawmaker for Jashore- 6 Ismat Ara Sadeque . The fair will be continued till January 28 since 23 of the month.
Shafiul Arif, deputy commissioner, Jashore confirmed the information to Newsmen on Tuesday night.
He told that the scheduled programmes will run as usual from January 23 with postponement of the opening session scheduled for Wednesday.
The dead body of the lawmaker may brought at Keshabpur on the day, he added.
The fair will be held at Sagardari, birth place of the great poet under Keshabpur upazila in Jashore. Jashore district administration arranged the Fair.
Elaborated programmes have been chalked marking the fair including discussions on the life of the poet, cultural sessions and sessions of folk culture.
Several stalls will be set up on the fair premises with different commodities.
