Ismail Pandit Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship awarded

Three students of the Department of Sanskrit of the Dhaka University received Ismail Pandit Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship 2013 for their outstanding performance in BA (Honours) examination recently at a function organised at the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique handed over the cheques of Tk. 16000/=, Tk. 12000/= and Tk. 8000/= among the top scorers namely Fahima Akter, Swagata Biswas and Dalia Nowsin Hera for obtaining first, second and third positions respectively in the Honours final examinations. Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman, Chairman of the Department of Sanskrit Prof Dr Narayan Chandra Biswas, Registrar (Acting) of the university Syed Rezaur Rahman and mother of Swagata Biswas were among others present on the occasion.
DU VC Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique in his speech mentioned that students who received scholarship deserve special appreciation as they worked hard to obtain higher positions among other students. He hoped that students would concentrate to serve the nation with full sincerity applying their knowledge and skills earned from the university.
They should play an active role in building country’s brighter and richer future through upholding secularism and non-communalism in order to lead the country, he added. He urged the students to contribute for country’s development in all sectors by practicing non-violent democracy.
