Islamic Solidarity Archery formally kicks off

Amidst great carnival atmosphere the 2nd ISSF Islamic Solidarity Archery Championships began on Sunday at the Moulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder MP formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation Secretary General Mohammed SM Algarnas and Bangladesh Olympic Association’s Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza were also present in the inauguration ceremony.
Bangladesh Archery Federation(BAF) president Lieu-tenant general (retd.) M Moinul Islam, BAF general secretary Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal were , among others, present on the occasion.
In the day’s opening qualification round recurve men’s singles event, Roman Sana of Bangladesh stood first scoring 666 , Binali Abdalelah of Saudi Arabia placed second scoring 652 and Tamimul Islam of Bangladesh stood at third position scoring 647 Bereket Burak of Turkey was placed in fourth position scoring 645 and Oona Mart of Estonia finished fifth position scoring 633.
In the day’s qualification round compound women’s singles event, Roksana Akter of Bangladesh stood first scoring 676 Hoim Emily of Estonia placed second scoring 672 Almassshadani Fatiman of Iraq stood at third position scoring 666, Bonna Akter of Bangladesh was placed at fourth position scoring 659 and Mitu Akter of Bangladesh finished at fifth position with 652.
The main competition round will be held today (Monday).
Participating countries: Azerbaijan, Chad, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Nepal, Morocco, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, Uganda, Mauritania, Djibouti, Pakistan, Estonia and host Bangladesh.
