KCC polls: Islami Andolon , JP announce election manifesto

Mayoral candidate of Islami Andolon and Jatiya Party (JP) announced their election manifesto at Khulna Press Club on Wednesday morning.
Islami Andolon candidate Maolana Muzammel Hq (Hatpakha) in his 25 point manifesto emphasized on social justice, drug free clean city, services of KCC at door step, sewerage and garbage management, establishing old home, free community clinic, stipend for poor students, establishing security in all wards deploying night guards, development of sports and games, ensure security of women and children, mosque based social activities and clearing road jam through vehicle management of easy bikes and auto rickshaws.
Jatiya Party candidate S M Shaiqur Rahman ( Langol ) in his 15 point election Manifesto emphasized on drug free city, free excess to KCC administration, a advisory committee, secure community for women and children, swimming pool play grounds, community health clinic, new income generating facilities for the unemployed youths etc.
 BNP mayoral candidate resumes electioneering
UNB from Khulna adds: Hours after postponing his electioneering, BNP’s mayoral candidate of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Nazrul Islam Manju resumed the campaign on Thursday with a fresh vow.
Manju said the leaders and activists of the 20-party alliance will not leave the field even if hundreds of them are arrested.
“They’ll be there in the field wearing coffin shrouds, if necessary,” said the mayoral candidate adding that the electioneering will continue from 2pm in full swing.
He further said, “We’ve heard the Chief Election Commissioner will come here on May 6 and sit with candidates. We’ll boycott the meeting, if needed,” Manju said.
Earlier in the morning at a press briefing, the BNP-nominated candidate declared to refrain from electioneering protesting the arrest of 19 leaders and activists of the party.
On Wednesday night, law enforcers arrested 19 leaders and activists of BNP, including its city unit publicity affairs secretary Asaduzzaman Murad, Jubo Dal president Mahbub Hossain, district unit president Mostafaul Bari Lavlu and district unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatral Dal general secretary Golam Mostafa Tuhin from different parts of the city.
