A Dhaka court yesterday indicted Ishraq Hosain, BNP’s Mayoral candidate in the Dhaka South City Corporation polls, in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Special Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam framed the charges on Wednesday and fixed February 9 for deposition of witnesses.
Ishraq, son of former Dhaka City Corporation
Mayor and BNP leader late Sadeque Hossain Khoka, was present in the court.
The ACC filed the case against Ishraq with capital’s Ramna Model Police Station on August 29, 2010 for not submitting his wealth statement.
According to the case documents, on September 1, 2008, the ACC served notice on Ishraq to submit his wealth statement and other dependents on him. Later, on September 4 of the same year, the ACC sent notice to his residence. As he was not found there, the notice was fixed to the wall beside the gate.
