The Islamic State (IS) has claimed to have planted two bombs at two police check posts in Dhaka, claims a terror activity monitoring group.
SITE Intelligence Group published the news on its own website and Twitter account on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) bomb disposal unit de-activated two bombs at Dhaka’s Khamarbari and Paltan area.
The bombs were left near the traffic police boxes at Khamarbari and UBL crossing at Paltan.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Javed Patwary said that they were waiting for forensic reports of the contents of the bomb. “If required, we’ll run DNA tests too, but we’ need some time,” he said.
He said that the militants might be active, but details can be provided after a thorough probe.
Several witnesses near the areas said that during controlled explosion, both objects created enormous noise with splinters spreading wide.
