Movement committee alleged: Irregularities play role behind Bhabadah situation

Bhabadah Movement Committee at a press conference held at Jessore Press Club on Saturday noon alleged that thousands of people under Bhabadah affected areas under Abhaynagar, Monirampur and Keshabpur upazilas are suffering from acute problem due to irregularities carried out by concerned people.
People of 150 villages are being waterlogged as tidal river management programme was not implemented as per the demands of the affected people.
Two excavators were used to dig channel of the River Hari by the Water Development Board being compelled by movements of the affected people last year. The initiative acted positively. Anisul Islam Mahmud, minister of water resources, in a workshop on Bhabadah problem, told that two excavators will again be engaged to dig the river channel from 1st April,2017. But in fact, the work was started from 22nd April, 2017. And two excavators were not used even for a moment. One f the machine is left inactive for over a month. The other one is unseen, the leader of the committee added.
Shubha Enterprise, contractor for the digging work in the River Sree is yet to start its work till now although the tenure of the work will be over in August, the movement committee leaders added in the press conference.
The leaders urged the government to relief the sufferings of the Bhabadah affected otherwise they it will stage tougher demonstration.
The committee also announced agitation programmes to meet the demands.
