Allegations of corruption and irregularities raised in the head teachers’ appointment examination at Sreepur High School in Kulaura, Moulvibazar. On August 29, Sreepur High School held the recruitment exam for the post of Headmaster and Assistant Headmaster. A total of 7 candidates for the post of head teacher and 4 candidates for the post of assistant head teacher appeared in the recruitment examination. The candidates are Atiqur Rahman Suhel, assistant principal of Mohtochin Ali High School, Arjun Chakraborty, assistant principal of Chhakapan School and College.
Abdul Hai Assistant Headmaster of Jalalabad High School and Moulvibazar Kashinath Alauddin High School and College suspended Md. Ayub Ali total seven people. In the meantime, the dismissed teacher Md. Ayub Ali has been appointed by irregularities and corruption in exchange of a large amount of money, the local residents complained.
Md Ashkar Ali, a resident of the local area and a member of the school managing committee, made a written complaint to the upazila executive officer on Thursday, September 1. Besides, 35 other people including four UP members of Brahmanbazar Union signed the written complaint.
A copy of which has been given to the Deputy Commissioner, Moulvibazar, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Sylhet
Regional Deputy Director, District Education Officer, Upazila Parishad Chairman and Brahmanbazar UP Chairman.
On the appointment board were the president of the school management committee Nurul Islam Khan Bachchu, representative of DG Moulvibazar Government Girls High School head teacher Moinul Haque, upazila secondary education officer Md. Anwar, Acting Headmaster of the school Shatadal Dey, Maulana Abul Hasan, Academician member.
It is mentioned in the complaint that the person (Ayub Ali) who has been appointed as the head teacher was accused of sexually harassing the students while he was the principal of Moulvibazar Kashinath Alauddin High School and College. Residents and students and parents of the school are in a state of panic as such an ugly person has been appointed as the Headmaster of Sreepur High School.
The recruitment board has given him this appointment in exchange of a huge sum of money from a person accused and dismissed for sexual harassment. The people of the local area cannot accept a person involved in a sex scandal as a head teacher under any circumstances. Appointing that person as the head teacher has caused anger among the school students, parents and local residents.
