Irregularities have been alleged in all sub-registry offices in the district .
Complaints were raised against some sub-registry office staff and sub-registrars in Sirajganj that they take bribe amounting to 0.5 percent against the total value of a deed prepared by deed writers.
Sources said that the deed receiver submits government fees through the bank draft in treasury bank but the office staff take bribe about taka 0.5 percent on the total value of the land per deed after submitting the government fees.
Sources also said that if the necessary papers and bank draft receipt copy are submitted along with the deed in the registry office but it is being cancelled showing various causes.
The office staff do not prepare any deed without taking Taka 0.5 percent. The sub-registry offices are situated at Belkuchi, Kamarkhanda, Chauhali, Tarash, Shajadpur, Ullapara, Kazipur, Salanga, Raigonj and Sirajganj Sadar upazila of the district.
District registry office in Sirajganj informed that about 61,012 deeds were prepared in all the sub-registry offices in Sirajganj from January to December 2015 for which government fees worth Tk 89 cr were deposited through bank drafts. Reliable sources said , the office staff took bribe about Tk 0.5 percent on the total Tk 89 crore in the year 2015. This system is being followed in all sub-registry offices in Sirajganj.
Sources said, the office staffs are taking an additional fees of Tk 5.50 to Tk 6.50 per document for district register.
Source also said that the staff are also taking Tk 20 for every page of the deed in all sub-registry offices of Sirajganj.
Some deed writers told this correspondent that the sub-registry office staff and officers make bound the people to pay bribe about Tk 0.5 percent on the total value of the land per deed. If any deed writer denies to give the office staff bribe he is threatened to cancel his deed writer license.
District Register (DR) in Sirajganj, when asked about the irregularities in all sub-registry office staff are taking bribe Tk 0.5 percent on the total value of the land per deed, he denied everything.
Sharif Taraf Hossain, a sub-registrar in Sirajganj Sadar upazila sub-registry office, when asked about taking Tk 0.5 percent bribe on the total value of the land of deed, he told that they do not take bribe for editing any deed and he denied all irregularities.
